University disciplinary actions

Posted on September 15th, 2014

Increasingly, universities are becoming harsher and more formal in their discipline of students. Gone are the days when punishments were informal with few repercussions. Even though a student may not formally be charged with criminal charges by the government, the repercussions of a school disciplinary proceeding can be harsh. Students can face disciplinary actions for minor offenses, drug charges, property damage, physical or sexual assault, and other crimes. Universities are now proceeding against students with punishments ranging from community service to suspensions and even expulsions.

If you believe you or your child is facing a university disciplinary action, please consult an attorney immediately. Although universities currently have the right to deny representation at the hearing, it is still essential to have representation in negotiating with the university, to ensure that your rights are protected and to help make sure you or your child’s future is not ruined by one bad decision. Here at ThePhillyLawyers we have a long history of helping students and their families get through this difficult time.
